Multi-step

Modern ERP systems process product structures as multi-step bills of material. The multi-step property is based on the stock-levels, which inventory management and material requirement should be supported by a system.

The multi-step master data generation is based on the rules of the respective single-step master data generation. With the OSCo MasterData Trigger, certified by the SAP AG, for the multi-step master data generation, companies describe materials across the whole value-added chain in the production. Thereby, it is assumed that a production description is assigned to each structure level in the form of a routing in order to determine the production steps and to accomplish a master recipe for stock evaluation.

In the field of the routings OSCo uses sets of rules via the variants configuration. In case of an existing super task list, new products can be connected preferably automatically with the rules of the super task list. Decided plans become thereby superfluous. When all production steps are documented with an article number, a complete structure exists in the production plants.

Example

In case of new design properties or packaging forms, new master data are necessary. The structure knowledge is processed by OSCo in a way that it is at disposal for a multi-step and automatic change management. For example, when changing a colour or surface, the affected parts can, if not yet existing, automatically be created across all production levels. Thereby, all bills of material and routings as well as all economical processes (such as sales, materials planning, inventory management, costing and material valuation) are at disposal at once.

The multi-step master data generation can be implemented in two different ways:

  • as a pure structure generation starting with a finished product

  • as part of the quotation costing, which has been prepared therefore
